Praiano
1. Marina di Praia
The lower part of Praiano stretches up to the Marina di Praia, the only landing point of the ancient Plagianum, with a narrow beach between two rocky walls, at the mouth of the rough ravine of Praia. On the promontory there is the “Torre a Mare” of medieval origin and below, the path following the sea cliff of Praia where it is possible to admire the coast until Conca dei Marini and the rock of “Isca”.
Today Marina di Praia is a popular sea resort with restaurants, hotels and bathing establishments. From Marina di Praia it is possible to rent a boat and visit the surroundings, the beautiful grottos of Suppraiano and Africana, Cala della Gavitella, the sea cliff at Torre di Grado and the isolated beach “Le Praie”
2. Cala Gavitella
A short distance from the centre of Vettica Maggiore, going down to the sea, there is the “Torre Grado”, built by the Spanish during the Viceroyalty, and the Beach of Cala della Gavitella in the bay of the same name. With its favourable west facing position, it is the only beach on the Amalfi coast to have all day sun, and there is a wonderful view over Positano and Capri. Near Gavitella there are also the “Fontana dell’Altare”, a natural swimming pool inside the entrance of a grotto, and the isolated beach “Le Praie” where vegetation and sea cliffs seem to extend into the blue sea.

Positano
1. Marina Grande
Marina Grande Beach, known in Italian as Spiaggia Grande (Large Beach), is the main beach of Positano, located southeast of the town.
The beach is about 300 meters in lenght and about 50 meters in width, and is one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan beaches on the Amalfi Coast.
Marina Grande has two bathing establishments, which rent sun beds and umbrellas and provide changing rooms and showers, and a free area (spiaggia libera) in the middle. From here, you can rent a boat to Capri or to visit the nearby coves.
At the northern edge of the beach, there are restaurants, bars and cafés, and at the eastern limit you can find the famous night club Music On the Rocks.
2. Fornillo Beach
The Fornillo beach is on the top ten list of the most beautiful beaches of Italy, according to TripAdvisor travelers’ choice.
Located in the picturesque scenery of Positano, it is a very small beach, hidden among the beautiful inlets of the Amalfi Coast. Behind Fornillo beach, you can admire the stunning village of Positano, characterized by its colors. This beach is recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing day by the sea.
It is a natural sight, at a few minutes walking from the most famous restaurants and cafes of the coast and from all kinds of shops. We would like to join the Tripadvisor suggestion and take the chance to recommend you a visit at the “Spiaggia del Fornillo“.
3. Arienzo
If you plan to hike the famous Pathway to the Gods from Agerola to Positano, then this is the beach for you. First start the hike early! What many guidebooks fail to note is that the Pathway to the Gods does not actually start/end in the center of Positano. Once you have hiked the rigorously vertical terrain of the Monti Lattari (you will go mostly downhill if you start in Agerola), you end up in Nocelle- still way above Positano. Then you must walk down 1,800 stairs, at which point your legs will almost certainly turn to jelly. And then you arrive on SS 163 Amalfi Drive—the road that connects Positano to Amalfi. It is still another 20-minute walk down this road to the center of Positano. OR– you can walk across the road, and down another set of stairs (about 50 more to go) to Arienzo Cove. This was Italian director Franco Zeffirelli’s favorite beach in all of Italy- he even built his house, now a hotel, Villa Tre Ville here. A dip in the sea here after a sweaty mountain hike is sublime. Order a Nastro Azurro and a tarallo almond biscuit at the Bagni d’Arienzo beach club. At sunset, catch the beach club’s boat back to Positano’s center and congratulate yourself for spending a perfect day in mare and montagna. This is what makes the Amalfi Coast so special.
4. Laurito
In the past, this small cove was the starting point for the pirates to raid commercial boats. Nowadays, it’s the launching pad for a day of sun, surf and seafood. Laurito is a closely guarded secret. The small beach is surprisingly uncrowded, though you’ll find a sunny, pebbly cove with beach chairs to rent and two restaurants to enjoy. There are pretty panoramas of pastel Positano to take in while sunbathing, making it a really nice perch for the day.
You can reach it from the road at the hamlet of Laurito, but there is a very steep climb down. The best way is to hop the boat shuttle that leaves from Positano’s main pier. You’ll find the distinctive red fish-shaped sign, and boats leave every hour for the five-minute ride.

Furore
1. Fjord of Furore
The Fjord is the dominant element that characterized the coastal landscape. It is a deep scar into the rock, almost a dolomitic landscape, in stark contrast with the sea and the long sandy beach.
In the past, a fishermen’s village nestled above this cove, and during the XVII century, an unexpected industrial development brought about change. The icy waters of the torrent Schiato, hurtling down from the Monti Lattari behind the cove, powered the machinery of a paper mill and a public flour mill.
Down the valley there is a “spandituro” or “drying room”, used for drying the paper produced. Today it houses an Ecomuseum, with an herbarium and a historical and geographical trail about legumes and cereals.
The two lateral ridges of the Vallone, which are about two hundred metres high, are criss-crossed by a network of pathways. Among them, the “Mad-Bat Path” is a botanical trail that is particularly useful to get to know the local Mediterranean scrub.
The fishermen’s village also houses the cinematic archive, “Museo Costa Diva – Le vie del cinema”, an itinerary through film sets which have had the exceptional location of the ‘Amalfi coast’ (including the film Amore, directed by Roberto Rossellini, with Anna Magnani, while the two were having a passionate affair here).

Conca dei Marini
1. Marina di Conca Beach
One of the most beautiful seaside spots for a swim on the Amalfi Coast is the beach at Conca dei Marini. It’s known for its relaxing atmosphere and beautiful scenery, where villages cling to the cliffs and the turquoise sea sparkles in the sunlight. This is a particularly nice choice because the beach is well served by restaurants, bars and facilities for bathing. There are ample umbrellas and chairs for rent, and refreshments to quench the heat.
The waterfront is always very clean and protected from westerly winds at the Cape of Conca. The exposure is far to the east and, because of a steep cliff, the beach is in the shade from early in the afternoon. It is located a few miles past the town of Amalfi, along the main road that leads towards Positano.
At Conca dei Marini, you’ll also find the interesting remains of a watch tower, the Torre del Capo di Conca (also known as Torre Saracena locally) which was built on a promontory in the bay to help protect against invasions by the Saracens. There is also a sea cavern, known as the Grotta dello Smeraldo (emerald cave) to explore here.
Marina dei Conca has restaurants and cafes. Many of the restaurants offer free water taxi service from Amalfi, and other boating companies offer water taxi service to the beach, making it an easily accessible destination for the day.
2. O’ Runghetiello
After Capo di Conca, a beautiful bay opens up, sheltered from the winds of the South where the boats of bathers and those of divers often stop, taking advantage of the clarity of its waters and the shallow depth of the seabed. Close to the cliff, almost vertically, in an area called ‘O Runghetiello, there are two little-known beaches because they are neither visible nor accessible from land, and do not attract attention from the sea. The first, scarcely 8 meters wide, is the smaller of the two and is used by some canoeists or boaters. Being exposed to the South-West it takes the sun’s rays until the early afternoon.

Amalfi
1. Marina Grande Amalfi
It is the beach of the most famous locality, the true nerve center and historical center of the whole coast that goes from Vietri sul Mare to Punta Campanella, so much so that it represents an almost secondary added value of the town of Amalfi. An immediate destination, together with Positano, for local and international tourism in almost every period of the year, it reaches significant levels of crowding on the weekends of July and August. As the name implies, the Marina Grande beach, although not the only beach in Amalfi, with its 184 meters in length and up to 40 in depth is certainly the most receptive. Well served by various bathing establishments, restaurants and renters of sunbeds and umbrellas, it allows bathing in an often cosmopolitan and colorful environment, ideal for those who love confusion and worldliness. On weekdays or in the spring months the beach is much more enjoyable and it is easier to retrace with the mind the fascinating history of this wide strip of sand that has seen seafaring wars, commercial galleys departing for the routes of the East and three centuries of the glorious Maritime Republic. A few meters away is the famous Piazza Duomo, with the imposing facade of the cathedral and the staircase that seems to descend like a waterfall, so just a few steps are enough to pass from the umbrella to history and art.
2. O’ Rarone (Santa Croce)
This is the ” minor “beach of Santa Croce, the first that you meet at the end of the long staircase (interrupted by the spring of 2011 due to a landslide) that descends from the state road (the second if you come from the sea). At the rear of the beach there is the large cave with the clearly visible remains of the ancient chapel of the Holy Cross which rest on a step, now cemented, from which the dialectal name ‘O’ Barone derives. It consists of a pebble base, d he summer is partially equipped thanks to the presence of a rental point for sunbeds and a public shower. Often it is preferred to the large beach because it is less crowded. However, being directly under the rock, it quickly loses the sun in the early afternoon. also for some television and film references. Here the opening scenes of Carosello Napoletano were shot, a film from the 1950s which had Sofia Loren among the protagonists. Instead it is often indicated, but erroneously, as the one on which the Baci Perugina commercial was shot in the 70s, which is why it is also known as the Archetto degli Innamorati. In reality, the advertising arc is located in Sicily (Arco Azzurro di Mongerbino, Bagheria).
3. Duoglio
Composed of rocks to the right and small pebbles, this beach is fantastic with clean sea (also because of the current effects). Not easy to reach due to its 400 steps in some cases even steep, which lead down from the state road, however, you cross a beautiful path full of nature that alleviates the discomfort of physical fatigue to get to the beach, remembering that then you will also have to climb . With small boats, every hour and you can take them to the pier, you can reach this corner of paradise and spend a beautiful day, considering that there is the equipped beach where you can rent umbrellas and go to the restaurant where you can taste the cuoppo of anchovies and not only.

Ravello
1. Marina di Castiglione
Only few know that Ravello, one of the most charming towns of the Amalfi Coast, perched on a high cliff at about 350 meters a.s.l. with a stunning view on the coastline below, also has a very lovely beach: the beach of Castiglione, located in the eponymous village, near Atrani.
The picturesque cave is easily reachable from SS 163 Amalfitana, through a staircase of about 200 steps.
The beach is about one hundred meters and enclosed in a unique scenario: on one side there are the beautiful noble buildings of this village and, on the other, the characteristic shape of Atrani, with the Church of Maria Maddalena and its bell tower.
Surrounded by the rocks, the beach of Castiglione is in the shade from early afternoon.
2. Lama ‘a Secca
After passing the small promontory of the Torre dello Scarpariello, after about 130 meters there is another small beach, a few dozen meters long, but decidedly more inviting than the previous one, both for its size and for its exposure. allows the sun to stay longer. Also in this case there are no public accesses. Two stairways allow the descent from as many villas but, being private, the only real possibility is to get there by boat. Except in the rare cases of Libeccio or Scirocco, the beach is well sheltered and offers very clear waters. If there is the possibility to reach it by sea, it is worth a short visit. The name Lama ‘a Secca derives from the submerged rocks that almost emerge in front of it, dangerous for boats at low tide. Another toponym, used by the fishermen of Atrani, is ‘Mmiezo’ a Pila.

Atrani
1. Atrani main beach
Finding a more ideal place along the Amalfi Coast to spread your towel than on the beach at Atrani would be impossible. The beach curves around the small bay and is sheltered by the town and cliffs behind it. From wherever you are on the beach, no matter which way you look, you’ll be astounded by the coastal scenery of this part of Italy. Accentuated by the pure Mediterranean blue of sea and sky, even the word picturesque doesn’t do it justice.
At Atrani, the Tyrrhenian Sea is clean and clear. It’s perfect for swimming and even better for snorkeling. If you just want to laze the day away and catch some rays, a couple of sunbeds and a parasol costs under $25 to hire. If swimming and the sea air give you an appetite, it’s just a short stroll over the sand to the beach cafe or a step or two more to the piazza behind it.

Minori
1. Spiaggia Grande
Minori beach is one of the few on the Amalfi Coast to be wide and sandy. Characterized by intense urbanization due to the historic flood of 1954, today it is a strategic point to enjoy the sea and easily reach other destinations. This town is historically linked to the neighboring Maiori with which it shares the area once called “Reginna”.
Although smaller, the beach of Minori has the same characteristics as that of Maiori, long and sandy. One part is a free beach, while the other is reserved for the beaches. The sun beats it until late afternoon. Highly recommended for families. No particular problem for parking the car..

Maiori
1. Marina di Maiori
The largest beach on the Amalfi Coast was formed during repeated flood events, some even very disastrous, like the last one in 1954, when the Rheginna Maior river, dragging thousands of tons of debris downstream, further widened the depth of the coast sandy pre-existing but also caused grief and destruction, leaving behind a devastated country which, largely rebuilt, has taken on the modern structure with which we know it today. Divided into two sections by the cemented mouth of the river, the beach reaches a total of over 930 meters of sandy front on the sea and up to 40 meters deep. This first stretch, 470 meters long, also alone retains the primacy of the longest sandy strip of the coast without interruptions. The state road divides the beach from the large inhabited center which, offering a rich hotel and restaurant accommodation, makes a comfortable balne-are holiday possible. As many as eight bathing establishments – some managed directly by the existing hotels – guarantee all the classic beach services, including bar and restaurant. On the road, other refreshment points, in the form of small kiosks, offer the opportunity to quench their thirst for those who use the small stretch of free beach located on the left side, under the cliff. Despite its large size and the impressive number of umbrellas, the beach of Maiori is quite quiet, lost in the high season and is particularly suitable for a family beach holiday.
2. Erchie
Atmospheric beach tucked between two promontories, each topped with a tower. The sandy beach is right at the foot of the village.
There are lots of umbrellas and a small tract of free beach. It gets quite crowded in July and August.
There are cafes, bars and services at the beach and in the village. Sand is fine and golden and water is clear and protected by the promontories.
3. Collata
Collata was the name of an old farmhouse above the small beach of the same name, destroyed by the Saracens almost a thousand years ago. This beautiful pebble beach, located at the bottom of a sheltered bay, is always clean and the sea is extremely clear, so bathing here is a very pleasant experience. A modest arboreal vegetation embellishes the scenographic frame. It cannot be reached directly from the ground, but only 160 meters separate it from the beach of the port of Cetara, so it can be easily reached by swimming or by renting a pedal boat. The only negative note is given by the fact that in the high season many boats flock to this inlet and here they find shelter from the breeze, which blows on hot days from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. It is 50 meters long.

Cetara
1. Marina di Cetara
The small Cetara offers to the attention of the tourists a small nice beaches. Bounded by a promenade flanked by typical houses with arches, the old tower with a square base and the fishing boats, is located right in front of the town and is easily accessible by car via the junction that leads down to the Marina. The exposure of the beach is to the south-east but it is still illuminated by the sun for most of the day. The sea is crystal clear, of course.
The other beach is beside the harbor of Cetara and has formed in recent times. It consists of a pleasant beach of sand and small pebbles, about 70 meters long, overlooking the bay of Collata. The water is generally clean and the sun heats it until late afternoon. The beach of the harbor is easily accessible by car.

Vietri sul Mare
1. Spiaggia la Baia
La Baia is the first beach you’ll come across traveling from Salerno. One of the few sandy beaches on the Amalfi Coast, La Baia is also one of the longest (measuring some 400 meters).
Easy to reach by car or public transport, the beach’s vicinity to the busy port of Salerno means that the sea is not always as crystal clear as in other parts of the Amalfi Coast.
A long-standing favorite with families, the beach has a number of well equipped bathing establishments and catches the sun for much of the day.
2. La Crestarella
Crestarella beach is furnished with 70 beach umbrellas with 2 deck-chairs. Our guests can also sunbathe and relax on a wooden sundeck equipped with 50 beach-loungers.
When the beach is busy new guests are not accepted, this makes our beach resort quiet, comfortable but never overcrowded even during the peak season.
The Tower was erected on a little rocky headland which was called “telescopio” by the inhabitants of Vietri. The cliff is a gathering place for teenagers (and adults too) who challenge each other diving into the wonderful sea.
Hidden by the headland you can gaze upon a body of water among the rocks known as “Vaschette” : atmospheric little pools spreading out towards Salerno.
3. Marina di Vietri
Marina di Vietri is one of the most recent beaches on the entire Amalfi Coast. Born in circumstances that were nothing short of dramatic, in 1954 when a flood hit the town and so the mud and debris rolling downstream made the beach advance about 100 meters, creating a previously non-existent sandy bottom.
The beach is practically divided in two by the Bonea river. In fact, on the one hand there are the bathing establishments while on the other there is the free beach, which anyone can use for free.
The boats that accompany tourists and swimmers on an exciting tour of the Divine depart from the beach of Marina di Vietri.
4. Marina di Albori
Albori, a district of Vietri with a population of just 350, is considered to be one of the most beautiful “borghi” in the whole of Italy.
Like the majority of the old settlements on the Amalfi Coast, Albori was built high up on a hill and connected to the sea by a series of steep pathways.
Today’s visitors can reach the beaches of Marina d’Albori more easily, using the steps which commence at km 48 of the SS168, not far from Vietri.
The beaches of Marina d’Albori catch the sun until late afternoon.

Capri
1. Marina Grande
The first beach many visitors to Capri see and experience, Marina Grande beach is located just beside the island’s main port. As well as being a convenient spot for visitors to stroll and sunbathe after stepping off the ferry, Marine Grande is also Capri’s biggest beach.
The water here is fabulously blue and clear, and the surrounding scenery provides the perfect backdrop for some magical photos to start your Capri holiday in style. Marina Grande is particularly popular with families and children too. It’s a safe beach for little ones to enjoy, with shallow waters to splash around in and nearby snack and refreshment stands.
2. Marina Piccola
Travellers can enjoy the amazing rock formations and breathtaking views of Marina Piccola down on the southern side of Capri. There are actually a couple of public beaches spread out along this area, mostly lined with smooth pebbles.
If you’re looking for a really quiet spot away from the crowds, keep walking east to find the tiny beach of Torre Saracena. If you don’t mind being around a lot of people, the larger main beaches near the Scoglio delle Sirene are just right for taking a seat with a cool drink and watching dozens of luxury yachts sail by.
3. Bagni di Tiberio
Arguably Capri’s best beach, Bagni di Tiberio has been drawing in tourists and travellers for thousands of years. It’s situated on the northern side of the island, and as soon as you see it, you’ll realise why Roman Emperors and nobles fell in love with this place.
Bagni di Tiberio offers both pebbles and sandy spots, ideal for strolling, sunbathing, exploring, and simple relaxation. You can ride speedboats from Marina Grande across to the Bagni di Tiberio beach. There are several amenities nearby including restrooms and restaurants.
4. Piscina di Venere
Head to Piscina di Venere if you’re looking for a quiet and cosy beach to read a book or relax with friends on. Many of the best beaches on Capri are also the most crowded ones. Marina Grande, for example, is filled with smiling faces and happy chatter all through the summer months and much of the rest of the year. Piscina di Venere is much quieter and more secluded.
The Piscina di Venere beach, which translates to ‘Venus’ Swimming Pool’, is a small spot that many tourists don’t actually know about. The local sailors will be happy to take you here though, dropping you off and coming back a few hours later to pick you up. Just don’t forget to pack a picnic!
5. Marina di Mulo
Down on the southern side of Capri, where the beaches tend to be a little less crowded, you can find Marina di Mulo. This was a very popular spot back in the jet-set days, attracting plenty of glamorous stars and glitzy celebs.
Nowadays, it never gets quite as busy as somewhere like Marina Grande, but it’s still spectacular. Our top tip for this beach is to arrive early. As the bay is quite deep and ringed with tall cliffs, the beach tends to lose sunlight quite early – generally around 4pm.
6. I Faraglioni
Easily one of the most scenic beaches on the island, Faraglioni is actually a small island separated from the mainland of Capri. At first, it might seem like this little rocky spot is inaccessible by foot, but there’s a little trail you can walk along from the Punta Tragara area. You can also simply hop on a boat from Marina Piccola to get over to Faraglioni.
Like many other beaches around Capri, Faraglioni is dominated more by rocks and pebbles than sand, but it’s terrific for enjoying views back onto the island and along the coast – the perfect spot for couples looking to share a peaceful, romantic moment together.
7. Punta Carena
Locals love Punta Carena, and if there’s one canny rule for making the most of any holiday, it’s to do what the locals do. It’s a rocky spot surrounding the lovely Punta Carena lighthouse, which provides the perfect backdrop for some fun holiday snaps to share with your friends and family back home.
The water is calm here and there are some good diving spots, as well as steps and ladders for those who want to gently ease themselves into the sea. You can find a nice snack bar just nearby too, serving up cocktails, wines, and tasty snacks to pass the time perfectly as you sit back and enjoy the views.
8. Blue Grotto
The Blue Grotto, or Grotta Azzurra for locals, is a stunning sea cave with magnificent blue waters, looking like something plucked straight from the pages of a fairy-tale storybook. It’s one of the most famous natural landmarks on Capri. Little rowboats take tourists into the cave each day, but there’s also a little public beach here too. It’s more rocky than sandy, but it’s a nice spot to sit peacefully and admire the surrounding beauty of the island, letting all your worries and thoughts fade away as you savour the moment.
9. Palazzo a Mare
Just a short distance westward along the coast from Marina Grande, you’ll find Palazzo a Mare. You can take a scenic stroll here from the main port, passing by the popular Da Paolino restaurant on the way.
This is a pebble-lined beach divided up into both a public and private section. It’s great for families and stays sunny until late in the day due to its position on the island. Visitors can enjoy the gentle waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea here, working up an appetite before dining at the local restaurant and gazing out over the waters while they eat.
10. Gradola Beach
Head to the west coast of Capri to discover one of the island’s true hidden gems: Gradola. Many of the best beaches in Capri can be found all around the main town of Capri itself. Gradola, however, is located in Anacapri. You can get here by bus very easily, but the rocky nature of the beach makes it more suitable for grown-ups than little ones.
It’s not far from the Blue Grotto, so you can do some sightseeing on the same day, and there are several useful amenities and great hotels nearby too. It’s a good spot to do some diving and swimming, or you can grab a fresh, juicy cocktail from a local bar and simply relax.
